True enough, but I've found that many people in India are more than happy to accept gifts, especially if the gifts are given to one or two people, in exchange for a service, and then, they use it for the benefit of all. It's a matter of honor and acceptance. Giving them the ability, without it being in exchange for something, implies that they are not capable of taking care of themselves, and therefore they reject it. Just a cultural sensitive note. I have no idea about other countries, or cultures, and I don't even know if it is pandemic across India, but ... your mileage might vary.
