Can you get enough Gatorboard to double layer it? I was just going back
over the chain to refresh, and you had mentioned having easy access. That
is one way to possibly increase the strength.

Anyway. What is the Gatorboard surface? You can search on optimal
adhesives based on the surface composition. Though contact cement is
pretty aggressive.
With this much time, it would be easy enough to bond some up and leave it
outside for a month.

Another option to look at is double sided adhesive tape. There are
industrial forms of that, and that offer acrylic adhesives, latex
adhesives, etc..
The space blankets will be PET. I don't know the bond strength of the
aluminum deposition. But I would be more comfortable myself, using the PET
surface as the bonding surface. The difficulty there is that PET is tough
to bond to. It might be worth researching the aluminum bond strength, as
the aluminum would be easier for you to bond to.

PET itself is pretty tough stuff.
