Greetings John, For other events (e.g. Pennsic) I camp in (modified) yurt (or actually Ger, for Ger is the house, Yurt is the village) during some intense weather. If you are interested in those structures, I'd be happy to share my insight with you for such.
Several people have done barns, and other more long-term structures out of wood, following the hexayurt design (including me, until I discovered my belly-band wasn't strong enough for the slope of the roof and the weight of the snow one winter ...) The original design, I believe, was set up for emergency housing units, in disaster areas, which might have a large variety of weather, and need to last much longer than the tents that a tent-city often is built out of. Especially since the hexayurt design is much more suited to a multi-room design. I believe that after the Burn, you will find many more answers to your questions, but most people are a bit focused at the moment. *grin* Be well, Percival On Sun, Aug 11, 2013 at 7:51 PM, Jace <pgfo...@gmail.com> wrote: > New to group ...A Hello from Hawaii... > > Terrific concept. the Hex-yurt.. > > Has any considered a permanent structure, like to use one of these perhaps > instead of a traditional yurt, many Eco people on the big island looking > for simple structures since weather is good. > > The only challenge is how would you protect the yurt from heavy rains. at > times. > > thanks > John > > > -- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups > "hexayurt" group. > To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an > email to hexayurt+unsubscr...@googlegroups.com. > To post to this group, send email to hexayurt@googlegroups.com. > Visit this group at http://groups.google.com/group/hexayurt. > For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/groups/opt_out. > -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "hexayurt" group.
