Probably the best way if you are laying in a group with other instruments, of course. They'll all be tuned to equal.
Equal Vs Just can be a can of worms!

I can't give you an exact answer on that. I do know that the hurdy gurdy is not an exact tune instrument, therefore I simply adjust the tangents to the needle when it's centered on the dial. Its as good as you'll get. I don't think that you can get exact temperament with this type of instrument as the sound is slightly different from maker to maker and style to style. Maybe someone else can give you a more explicit answer. I and the group I play with all use the Korg with satisfactory results.

The Korg ca30 is tuned to equal temperament according to the
specs.
That's fine for guitars and similar but wouldn't
really do when you have an
instrument that requires "just temperament"
tuning would it?.

I can't really get a decent large picture of it (Oh,
it's very cheap in the
UK by the way, small-change price!).
Does the needle show enough either side of the "in
tune in equal
temperament" to tune to "just temperament"?
Here's the "big brothers" of your tuner -
with this you can set the
frequency of each note you want to tune rather than tune it
to what a piano
would sound (all notes slightly out of tune).

Unfortunately, they are about five times the cost :(

Has anyone used these?
