Position Description:
Toxicologic Pathology Associates, Inc (TPA) is seeking an experienced 
histotechnician/histotechnologist for our Molecular Pathology Laboratory. TPA 
is an on-site contractor of the Food and Drug Administration and provides 
pathology and pathology-related services at the National Center for 
Toxicological Research (NCTR) in Jefferson, Arkansas. Our work involves 
processing animal tissues (mice, rat, guinea pig, rabbit, minipig and non-human 
primates) or cultured tissues (organoids, spheroids, membrane inserts and 
more). The regular workdays are Monday to Friday and regular work hours are 
between 7 am to 5 pm. The weekend duty expectations are occasional and are on 
as-needed basis.
Essential Responsibilities:

  *   An ideal candidate should be able to work independently with minimal 
training/supervision, should have good cognitive skills, must be detail 
oriented, and should be looking for a long career in histology. There is an 
opportunity for growth in this position.
  *   Good attendance, punctuality, excellent interpersonal and 
customer-oriented skills are basic requirements.
  *   The histotechnician is responsible for processing all specimens received 
in the Histology laboratory, which requires independent judgment in selection 
of methodologies utilized in processing tissue specimens and in solving 
problems.
  *   The histotechnician is responsible for appropriately staining of the 
slides (routine, special or immunohistochemical stains).
  *   The histotechnician is responsible for labeling, entering, and tracking 
the progress of the specimen until it reaches the Pathologist.
  *   The histotechnician is also responsible for the maintenance of the 
histology area by maintaining inventory and supplies, cleaning and organizing 
of workstations, disposal of biological waste, adherence to all compliance and 
operational procedures.
  *    The histotechnician should follow safe work practices and should 
maintain safety through use of personal protective equipment.
  *   Additional duties include development of new methods, documentation per 
GLP guidelines and communication with pathologists.
Minimal Requirements:

  *   The current position is for an experienced histotechnician, who has a 
bachelor's or an associate degree and/or HT or HTL (ASCP) certification or a 
suitable combination of education and hands-on experience.
  *   Experience in cryomicrotomy, ultrathin sectioning and 
immunohistochemistry is highly desirable.
