I'll get back on 'dates' ... since my own use of historic data is for
genealogical detail, dates often have a calendar involved as well and an element
of 'error' so YYYY-MM-DD needs defaults depending if it's a start date
(xxxx-01-01) or and end date (xxxx-12-31 or as appropriate)
