This seems to be total overkill in most cases?
We have start and end date which is the obvious way to manage changes and is consistent, so there is no need to be trawling through other tags to find possible date information? What makes more sense to me is a mechanism to create the 'history' of changes in the same format as will be created in the change log as changes are made in the future.

I've argued for some time that simply adding 'start_date' to much of the content that is currently existing will add an important element of historic data to what is already live.
