Lots of challenges to take on and more opportunities to find! Also lets not consider the door totally closed with Knight. Their Prototype Fund grants (USD 50,000 for 6 months work) are often folks who didn't make the full News Challenge. And there are 6 rounds of that per year. Far less competitive.
