With the view that "getting to be" might best be served after a release
(when code changes settle moreso) but acknowledging that the site is
built from controlled sources (which is a chicken and the egg
situation), perhaps this could be done just prior to 1.1 final.

The whole of commons was migrated fairly painlessly just recently
('fairly painlessly' being a way of saying if there were major issues,
they weren't raised on the lists other than "if" and "we'll see"). There
was a discussion about tool support that resulted in a fundamental
agreement that the advantages of SVN outweighed less-mature IDE support
as compared to CVS. For those who haven't seen them, I'd refer you to
the following to see the initial stages of the commons endeavour:
http://wiki.apache.org/jakarta-commons/SubversionConversion [written up
by Tim O'Brien]

There were also a LOT of e-mails about support and lack thereof - check
the archives for 'svn' in the subject. Many questions raised, many
answers given.

Also note their use of a test installation. I believe this would help
any project converting from CVS to SVN although HiveMind is orders of
magnitude simpler than the whole of commons and as such may not truly
_need_ it.

There were also suggestions to developers who feared a lack of support
(Subclipse in particular) to try accessing the jakarta-regexp module or
Velocity/ORO (https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/jakarta/regexp/trunk)
although now you could easily substitute anything in the commons. I
believe IDEA was on track to have SVN support in their next release.
