Richard,
I made sure that my server uses https for password security purposes. My
SVN server doesn't work over unsecured http.

I use Eclipse, but I haven't used the SVN support. I have used the SVN
support (a plug-in) within IDEA, though, and it SUCKS! I have heard others
complain on the commons list about Eclipse's SVN support and how it's
horrible. They pretty much said the same thing you did about using
TortoiseSVN (which is what I use also). I would say that the tools
available (aside from TortoiseSVN) for CVS are much better than the
corresponding SVN tools at this point, but they will catch up, I'm sure.
The SVN support for IDEA is supposed to be built-in for the up-coming 5.0
releaase.

James

I just worked with the Apache Infrastructure team. If you have firewall
problems, you can use the https:// server for anonymous access also. Works
great.

James, do you use Eclipse? Do you use the Eclipse client for CVS? Do you use
the Eclipse client for SVN?

If you do, how do the CVS and SVN clients compare?

+1 for me. I just recently started using SVN (I'm now a committer on
Jakarta commons) and I really like it. In fact, I set up SVN on my own
server and it works beautifully. It took about 10 mins to get it set up.

I think its getting to be the right time to move HiveMind to
Subversion. It's part of the plan at Jakarta that all projects
eventually be under SVN. Following a succesful vote here, we'll
request that Apache Infrastructure make the conversion.
