While I know upgrading versions of the JDK is a HUGE step in any
project, is it wise to make that a requirement now? I, personally, use
1.5 for all my development and having source compatibility with 1.3
should alleviate many concerns, but I've also seen a lot of messages
indicating a tie to pre-1.5 that might not be easily overcome at the
present moment.

On the flip-side... given the number of committers such a jump for
purposes of building only might not have the impact of a more mature
project.

Bottom line: for me personally, +1 (non-binding). for the project?
