First of all, thank you for putting this into your TODO list ;-)
About the canConfigurationBeMapped(), in my situation I do not need it.
However, for the sake of exhaustivity, we should probably integrate it to
Registry as well, I believe.

What about the "guard method" canConfigurationBeMapped(String), would
you also need that?
