Nazri: Priority for BN supporters for Mara loans

KUALA LUMPUR: Priority for Mara's education loans will be given to
supporters of the Barisan Nasional.
Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said in
politics, priority must always be given to party supporters.
"If the supporter qualifies for the education loan, then surely he will
get it,'' he said after opening the new L&G Twintech Institute of
Technology campus in Bandar Sri Damansara yesterday.
Nazri said applications from others would only be considered after this
was done.
Asked how Mara would differentiate between a Barisan or opposition
supporter in the loan application, he said: "Sekilas ikan diair, sudah
tahu jantan betinanya (You can tell whether the fish is male or female
with just a glimpse).''
"Don't worry about that, we know.''
When asked about loan applicants from Kelantan and Terengganu, he said
not everyone supported the opposition in these two states.
"It is not fair to penalise applicants from those states across the
board as we have supporters there, too,'' he said.
On his win for a seat on the Umno supreme council, Nazri said it did not
matter what position he came into.
"It is just a number--what is important is to serve the people,'' he
said.
He also warned the opposition not to take the Barisan for granted.
"What happened to the Barisan in the last election was a one-off and the
opposition should not be encouraged by this,'' he said.
