Can I volunteer to help someone with designing? Is designer not cool
to volunteer for ? I mean it does require programming....yet I'm not
wantin to be the 'only' designer, they're just suggestions....I have a
buncha neat games I wanna make and not enough time and/or skills....I
want a team, and the people here seem to be modding source.....

One random solo project idea I had that I never did, was a
counter-strike source mod. This game is already very popular, runs on
lots of computers, and is a nice 'starting kit' in many ways of what
i'm into (i also have a very, very long and diverse blog @
aersixb9x.wordpress.com on subjects such as fricrtion free piloting,
thrust vecotrs, makin pipes out of river rocks with power tools,
melting rocks into lava, heating metal to soften it a bit for the
hammer and cinder block , gunfightin, pgl 1 , sex, ts6, and more)

Also i'm not exclusive or committal, so if you wanna hear my designs
and stop caring, feel free to ignore me later after bein interested
early, no committments impiled or wanted, and you can use it for free
and walk away anytime, but I bet if I had even 1 dedicated worker and
we kept chattin back n forth, we'd both get some cash and game makin
cred pretty fast.....

First simplest mod I thought of for cs:s or 1.6, was one where you get
+1 points for killin, -5 for dyin, otherwise identical or not, just
one mod you can add....also just thought of a meta-mod loader and
sharing / rating program for steam/css....to find good mods, and maybe
to p2p distribute server hosting tasks, along with curving the scores
if necessary or makin it something like +6 killin -5 dying, etc,....

Also perhaps making 'tools' that wrap around source, including very
easy ones resembling garrys mod or the starcraft 2 map editor, or just
a nice .exe client (or web c# + asp, build client & custom download
from site per user, can run compilers / c++ / c# code on server freely
, client runs in browser without download/etc)

Along with ways to find and share stuff.....also single player is a
bit less exciting, especially for 'serious' gamers , yet is also a lot
more technically ez....one idea i had was a single-player game using
cs resources, a gungame, and doing a rpg-style game with that where
you start over on death, maybe doin contract missions on maps that are
generated as much as possible according to
gamecode/character/player/etc, including static terrain and placed
hostiles, juggling the stats on the hostiles including their loadout,
ai, runspeed, etc, and giving all the controls / code path (climbing,
running, walking, etc) their own skill that goes up with use, code,
etc...

Also for a bigger project, maybe a pair of games. In one you RTS like
dungeon keeper and build maps, in another you play fps / rpg single
character (or rts, etc) and raid maps built by other people, possibly
as multiplayer real time or not, and perhaps with other ways of making
real game resources that are also fun to make, like a source +
blacksmithing game, where you use a cross of 3d modeling styles and
'hammering' and 'firepit' and 'tree harvesting physics', maybe with
trees having lots of models for 1 tree like baby, no leaves, big,
missing limbs, sick, etc, and swap the models as code dictates,
including harvest, time compression, day night, etc, or use pieces,
less, inspired by, etc....

Then you get a buncha 3d shapes from that, you can 'weld' them with
fire/fuel/heat/glue/acid/magic, etc, and skills perhaps too, and also
saw, hammer, all the blacksmith or gunsmith options you can implement,
including abstract skill/rpg style with affecting the numbers at the
end....or even noting that there aren't that many possible 'pistols',
and pick one, a 'regular' pistol you then copy & paste to make a ton
of variations on, then pick models based on stats, heat, etc....also
feel free to move vertexes in code, or i'll say how!

Also how about minecubes in source? Seems easy enough in theory, load
no terrain, lotsa objects, and some of your 'model objects' are
floating cubes, maybe 100 of them lol could clone it, put in some gun
recipes, and have a much nicer game, heck the melee code is probably
better too, can source do swords and spears and arrows?

Source Swords Add-ons for Mod Makers ? Yeah that would be popular,
maybe if you have some partial code already, make a free-blogsite
about using it, post a compiled download, and let ppl use it for free
and/or cash and/or a % of sales and/or "email me", could be maps,
code, anything you make could be someone else's tool, and with lots
people could assemble packages much faster and easier, like adding
sword and rpg code, and since the rpg-addon for cs is a 'tool', you
can make the plugin with a menu and options if you want, to pick what
variables are used and how they affect the other parts easily, with
payment options in there too perhaps creative, standard, or whatever
;p
