I am currently working on a co-op map-pack for portal 2 and wanted to have the
different courses and maps we are making to be initially be locked and then
unlock when you play them - like in the official Portal 2 Co-op campaign.
I know how to set certain maps locked and then unlock them but... whenever you
leave the game and start a new one (loading the hub map), the script resets and
all the levels are locked again. Generally what I want to know: is possible to
save to a file and then have a script read it? That way it can lock and unlock
all the wanted levels, so the robot duo can revisit these maps whenever they
like.
The only file I know that saves to your computer is config.cfg, but you can't
read from it AND it only saves user-based commands (like binded keys) which you
probably couldn't do anything with anyway.A mod is out of the question seeing
as joining a coop game is impossible through a mock mod we tried making (plus
the source code isn't released for Portal 2 either).

I've tried asking around but I have no answer, your my only hope

P.S. I accidentally sent an email from another email account that isn't a
member. You can ignore it (same body text)
