Please ignore the last mail from me ... my mail server clogged up and you've told me most of what I need to know
Does the client workstation have access to both the cable and SDSL connections? If this is the case as it tries to connect to the server the machine might be switching over the connection to the SDSL to auth... But you signed into steam on the cable which is causing the Invalid ticket I get invalid tickets usually when I sign into another machine on my network and have not signed out on the first machine. This is the only thing right now I could think could cause the problem Your network structure is still a little fuzzy SDSL---router----\ Switch ---- internal network Cable---router----/ & server Tell me if I got it right :) DarK -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of TMTF45 Sent: 31 July 2004 19:31 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [hlds] 1.6 Lan proble Ok..here's my set up..that worked flawlessly on CS 1.5..which is the same set up for STEAM currently. Servers-->own router and gateway with dedicated STATIC ISP IP, and internal local IP.(SDSL ISP) Other computers(workstations)-->own router and gateway. (CABLE ISP) All workstations, and servers are on the same local ip and subnet ie: 192.168.1.x/255.255.255.0 and are all connected thru the same 24 port switch. When connecting via CABLE ISP, no problems..but I also see the CS1.6 Server on my LAN tab, tried to connect thru that..no go.."invalid steam ticket"...entered the local LAN IP via console..same error. This is exactly the same setup for the old WONID System, and worked with not problems, all I did was added a STEAM server to the same CS 1.5 box, and turned off the 1.5 HLDS console so it won't interfere with STEAM server. I'm assuming in essence it should work the same way as 1.5 did, but alas it isn't. I know that the client needs to be validated and all with steam, but since having a seperate router/gateway to get validated to enter the 1.6 server LAN should work but it refuses to let me in. I checked the STEAMPOWERED forums and no answers..its kinda weird. Honestly..wouldn't you want to have a sub 5 ping than a 60ish ping? Aside from the low ping, this way I can d/l files etc...via ISP and still play CS 1.6 via LAN. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kevin Ottalini" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Saturday, July 31, 2004 1:59 PM Subject: Re: [hlds] 1.6 Lan proble > TMTF45: > If your Server and your Client are both behind the same router and the > router is set up for NAT then you need to add your Server Internal IP > address (and port) to your Client's Server Browser "Favorites" and > connect that way, not through LAN tab (probably won't show there). > > There is a good chance your Server will not show up for your Client > in the Main Server Browser list (even though it's really there), again > because the Server and the Client are both behind the same router. > > The problem here is if you try to query or connect to the your Server > using the external IP address then your Client has to go out through > the router and then loop back in again (with NAT happening). > > Using the internal IP address you connect through the router's switch > on the LAN side which works fine. > > The Server has a declared external IP address (not a declared LAN > address) so it won't show up on the LAN tab. > > quick > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: TMTF45 > > Sent: 31 July 2004 05:33 > > > Subject: Re: [hlds] 1.6 Lan proble > > > > Okay..here's one..I'm running a public server, and I want to get in > > on LAN, but it won't let me.."Invalid Steam Ticket" error, but when > > I go thru my 2nd ISP, no problems.
