The part that I disagree with is that group 3 will get warned by the
hackers-proper.

Right now one can download _any_ cheat, and have it work for them. If
we threw some bannable cheats into the mix...many people might choose
not to cheat.

Yep I suspect you are right, but there will still be a hardcore crowd
out there that are programmers capable of understanding, if not writing,
cheats and hacks. Then there will be the crowd of "regular hackers"
that, like us lot on this list, receive regular updates or go and read
up on a variety of topical web sites. After that you've got the rest of
them.

Admittedly the first group is a very small percentage of the community.
The second is probably considerably larger, leaving the remainder pretty
much as opportunitist hackers/cheaters and those too dense to know any
better as probably the biggest group.

Its not the last group that you really want to stop. Well you do, but
they aren't the root of the problem. Its the regulars cheaters and
hackers-proper that are the one you need to put a stop to. This kind of
scheme would work well on the regular cheaters for a short time, because
they are the ones that would pick up and test out new cheats/hacks
without knowing what they are doing under the hood. Of course that
would only last until they get warned off by the hackers-proper and this
crowd wouldn't be taken in at all.

The trouble with the regular cheaters is that a little knowledge is a
dangerous thing. Once they get wind that they are being scammed thats
when the ddos attacks start. They don't need to be terribly intelligent.
They only need a little bit of knowledge.

~shrug~ every community has a hierarchy.
