It is listen server only. The dedicated server exists, but is not in
hldsupdatetool yet per Alfred. (I dunno about the steam source
dedicated server supporting it as it requires just as much effort as the
-listen server.)

So where is the dedicated server? Or are there none, and all of the
servers
out there are listen servers running via the client?

HL2DM:S is the version that was released some time ago. There are
lots of dedicated servers out there.

HL1DM:S was just released, but isn't available for dedicated servers
via the HLDSUPDATETOOL, yet.

The update news says:

Fixed dedicated servers defaulting to LAN instead of Internet

Implying there is a dedicated server. Where is it? It's not
included with
Source Dedicated Server downloaded via Steam. It's not in the games
list.
Alfred already said it's not yet available via hldsupdatetool. I
don't see
the executable anywhere. So....where is the HL2DM:S dedicated server?

Question: Is the only way to run a server to run a listenserver?
Is there
a
dedicated server?

Half-Life 1: Source Deathmatch (HL1DM:S) is only available to
people who
have preordered Half-Life 2: Episode 1 currently. We will be
releasing
it via hldsupdatetool at a later date.
