This is the only list that valve runs which is plagued with Off Topic bullshit. I doubt they will devote man hours to weeding out the nonsense. It's been this way for 7 years. Unfortunately it's also one of the few places where an admin / GSP could have direct & relevant dialogue regarding server specific problems and possibly get a response from Valve. Take Alfred and Mike out of the picture and this list would evaporate.
Maybe create some rules in your email client which filter out the posts by certain names. I did it, and it works nicely. If we could get people to just put OT in the subject line at least such filtering would be more effective instead of blanket-filtering based on name. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Regime Sent: Monday, June 18, 2007 2:36 PM To: hlds@list.valvesoftware.com Subject: Request for list moderation - Was: [hlds] REMOVE ME He signed up voluntarily for a list about hlds, not for getting his mailbox filled with comments from those who can not control themselves from replying to every idiotic thing they see. (30 replies to a thread that should have not even gotten a single one) This list is for discussing hlds server related issues, not for having a laugh. If you need a laugh, leave this mailing list and join the circus. Anyway.. I might as well have gone for it and told this to my cat instead, cause the only result it will have is more useless posts, so to get to the point; Can we _please_ get some (Valve) moderating on the hlds mailing lists? No need for heavy filtering. Just weed out the complete nonsense threads like this one and end threads that go into off-topic or flaming mode. It's just a break by laughing at someone who was too ignorant to read the email and see, in clear text, that he could easily unsubscribe. Not to mention he signed up to a voluntary list, then gets pissed off when he gets loads of mail? _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds
