ok...

sv_lan is definitely 0
I set the ip using +ip and this time it bound to it - but still no luck with
connecting

I get this output from status
hostname:  MMMugs 24/7 Glassfun
version : 1.0.0.34/7 3224 secure
udp/ip  :  88.208.***.**:27015
map     :  de_dust at: 0 x, 0 y, 0 z
players :  0 (32 max)

# userid name uniqueid connected ping loss state adr

All very odd... I can stick some bots on and they play merrily away :P

The port is not blocked - I successfully connected a quick python socket
server to that IP from this PC on that port and it worked fine....

I do seem to be getting the following error though:

net.cpp (960) : Assertion Failed: 0 == iRet && iValLen == sizeof( iVal ) &&
cSendBufSize <= iVal
net.cpp (968) : Assertion Failed: 0 == iRet && iValLen == sizeof( iVal ) &&
cRecvBufSize <= iVal

I cant see how it would rtelate but it might do (the server is def up to
date btw).

Thanks for the help
Tom

PS full start output in case it helps

try adding the ip and port into ur command line (startline) not sure what
it
is for linux aint used it for a we while but its either +port or -port and
+ip or -ip. ask fast hosts if they have a fire wall blocking ports ?

Hi guys,

right this is a real idiot question....

I have a new dedicated box (hosted with fasthosts btw) which i am
plannign
to run 3 new CSS servers on., it is running linux (ubuntu I think...)

I have a user (called css :)) under which I have srcds installed, i can
start the server (using ./srcds_run -console -game cstrike +map de_dust
+maxplayers 16 -autoupdate) and over the remote connection (a putty
session)
it is runnign fine.

Hostip returnsthe correct strign for my IP address, the port ius
correctly
reporting back as 27025 and the ip cvar is set to localhost. It connects
to
the valve master list servers fine.

All seems fine

However no one can connect or even see the server on the IP!

No errors nothing, just cant see it.

Any ideas.. what idjit mistake have I made? thisi s bugging me know
because
I have done this before many times without a problem and I cant figure it
:(

Thx in advance,
Tom
