Don't rebuild quite yet!
Make sure the server is set to have a static class C IP (eg 192.168.X.X). In
ubuntu this is located at :
/etc/network/interfacesOr, just to test if you're not comfortable, type:
ifconfig
It should return results that look like this:
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:40:CA:8C:BB:4D
inet addr:207.188.214.12 Bcast:207.188.214.31 Mask:255.255.255.224
inet6 addr: fe80::240:caff:fe8c:bb4d/64 Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:19739688 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:22418575 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:2210680297 (2.0 GB) TX bytes:12003409488 (11.1 GB)
Interrupt:17 Base address:0xc000
eth0 or eth1 is what you're looking for. In my case, the IP is 207.188.214.12.
For you it would likely be 192.168.X.X. When starting your server, use that IP.
screen -A -m -d -S tf2 ./srcds_run -console -game tf +map cp_dustbowl
-maxplayers 24 +ip 192.168.X.X -port 27015
On the router side, make sure you are correctly forwarding the required ports,
and then attempt to connect from the outside.
