A mailing list is (for me) more convenient. It comes to me. It's in my mailbox. I don't have to go to some website and log in and then search through the messages to find anything worth reading. It's there whenever I check my email. Ten mailing lists means they all come into my mailbox whenever I want to check email.
Forums tend to be moderated. And more then often you end up with some heavy handed nazi moderator that pisses people off and drives off a lot of good people. Ten forums means ten different web sites with ten different (or not) logins that I have to remember, and it's too much trouble when I can just sit on my fat butt and let them all come to me in my mailbox. ----- Original Message ----- From: "DontWannaName!" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <hlds@list.valvesoftware.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 12, 2008 8:50 PM Subject: [hlds] Why A Mailing List? -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] When we were talking about spam I thought why do we use a mailing list? Why not a forum as this is quite comparable... Just an idea that im sure has been brought up before.
