A mailing list is (for me) more convenient. It comes to me. It's in my
mailbox. I don't have to go to some website and log in and then search
through the messages to find anything worth reading. It's there whenever I
check my email. Ten mailing lists means they all come into my mailbox
whenever I want to check email.

Forums tend to be moderated. And more then often you end up with some heavy
handed nazi moderator that pisses people off and drives off a lot of good
people. Ten forums means ten different web sites with ten different (or not)
logins that I have to remember, and it's too much trouble when I can just
sit on my fat butt and let them all come to me in my mailbox.

Subject: [hlds] Why A Mailing List?

[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ]
When we were talking about spam I thought why do we use a mailing list? Why
not a forum as this is quite comparable... Just an idea that im sure has
been brought up before. Sorry for the off topic post :}
