Thanks, I am running fps_max 0 and the server is at 500fps right now.  I'm
not sure my box will run HPET for 1000fps, so I've just gotta get to the
bios and check it out.

Try fps_max 0. Compare the CPU usage between boosted 1 FPS and boosted
1000FPS. It will be the same. So might as well use 0 (which is uncapped).
