This email list is slowly becoming steam forums, in other words useless, but there is still some of us around thankfully who can actually be informative.

My suggestion is first back up all your databases.

Second take down the website so that you aren't killing everyone who is stupid and starts clicking, its also not good for your ranking.

You will need to fully reinstall every wordpress file as any number on them could have been damaged and you don't want that down the line.

Next take a light look into the database and make sure that it isn't screwed, if it is either revert to an older one, or start fresh.

After doing all that run a virus scan on your files that you will be uploading to the server and that are already on the server. You may need to download the whole thing into your computer.

Double check that your computer isn't infected.

***Move the webserver off of the server hosting tf2. Many of us here have found issues with the combinations over the years.

Update all software on the server, apt-get update & apt-get upgrade if you are debian based.

After you think your all set go and look around the internet for the web site virus scanners, I have seen them and they shouldn't need any information other then your site address.

Finally please take this all is helpful information that comes with no warranty as I am not responsible for your work, you are.

Good Luck.

As for using wordpress, TF2.com uses it. It's fine as long as it's updated properly (and possibly ran in it's own user in a restricted environment). Now can we concentrate to server administration instead of picking up on eachothers?

This is a mailing list focused around the operation of steam servers. If people are compromising your machine through other vectors outside of the steam server binaries, there is little advice we could give that you wouldn't be better suited pursuing on, say, a web server administration forum.

We are not your personal army of network security specialists.

This is like if you wrote to the mailing list for a car mechanic group, complaining that you left your car unlocked on a busy street and it was broken into, and while you know that leaving it unlocked was silly, you find installing locks difficult and does anyone have any solutions for how to make the car harder to break into that don't involve locking the doors? We are busy trying to help people keep their cars running, sorry.

Please understand that I mean my satire to serve as a gentle and amusing correction, not a negative flame. I would advise you to consider moving to a more secure blogging framework, or consider investing in separate servers if keeping your wordpress is vital. Barring the offending IP ranges from connecting to your server might be beneficial as well. So would doing a little research of your own on how to secure a server.

Hope you have a nice day.

Ryan, why waste your time with a response like that?

It's no secret using WordPress may not be a secure platform, but
seriously, why waste your time with a reply so negative in a environment
that is here to support and help others?

Explain this to me.

Hello, I was doing something foolish and ran into serious trouble as a result. Modifying the foolish behavior is Too Hard. Can someone else please think for me and invent a way for me to keep doing foolish things without consequences?

Also can it be inexpensive and not time consuming, I've got better things to do with my time and money than to obey basic common sense.

Sarcastic responses will not be tolerated.

Thanks!
