Greetings fellow game sysops.
I will immediatly start working on this CHROOTING HOWTO/GUIDE for the
community's sakes. I expect to have more information in about 2 weeks
tops, and will gladly give status updates on this. I will test this with
the 1.5 and steam version of the server, although i don't figure there
should be too much hassle in running the thing under a chrooting jail (
course, i may be saying my infamous last words..lol)
Also, i would like to report ( although i'm sure everyone knows it) that
the 1.5 server does leak memory too. Maybe not a lot, but the darn
thing is leaky.
In fact , it's even more annoying when the server decides to freeze on
you and die without having the dignity to send any kind of signal to the
operating system to let him notice of that fact. I've taken to go on the
server console twice a day now to see if the server's dead, since i
know that when i type and nothing shows up, things are nasty. Only
because of this hacked up program that i have to reboot my linux server
every 2 months ( i run one 1.5 server and apache on this thing).
Anybody that would like to contribute to the CHROOTing effort, don't
hesitate to send me a shout.
