Sys_ticrate can be changed with rcon, when you say console, are you referring to the clients console or the HLDS console. if your talking about the HLDS console then yes , you can change sys_ticrate through that. The client should not be able change anything regarding sys_ticrate while ingame. this can lead to a lot of problems for your server. About your next question, i use sys_ticrate 1000 for all my linux fedora 3 4 & 5 boxes and they run smooth as silk. I have heard from this forum that 800 tic will do the same but I haven't tried it. i have done extensive testing and found these rates are the best for all HL1mods. Sv_maxrate 20000 Sv_minrate 4000 Sv_maxupdaterate 50 Sv_minupdaterate 20 Sys_ticrate 1000 -------Original Message------- From: Amit Gandelman Date: 12/9/2006 12:40:18 PM To: hlds_linux@list.valvesoftware.com Subject: RE: [hlds_linux] tickrate @ kyle: Thanks :) So by adding '+fps_max XXX' and '+sys_ticrate XXX' in the command line to start up the server, that should lock it in? or can a client still change it via console with rcon? @ anyone: To have servers run at a very consistant 16 fps, 333 fps, and 500 fps... what kind of sys_ticrate and fps_max should be set at? Thanks for all your help :) - Amit -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of kyle Sent: Saturday, December 09, 2006 1:19 AM To: hlds_linux@list.valvesoftware.com Subject: Re: [hlds_linux] tickrate -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Right, they add all of that info to the command line. This way there customers cannot change it. At least that's the way it is in hl1mods. sys_ticrate can be aded to either the server.cfg or CMD line. And don't mind me. I give everyone shit, that's just the way I am. It was just hard to understand what you were asking for in your post. :P :P :P REMEMBER LESS IS MORE.... -------Original Message------- From: Amit Gandelman Date: 12/9/2006 1:11:45 AM To: hlds_linux@list.valvesoftware.com Subject: Re: [hlds_linux] tickrate Well, companies sell boosted serves and must have a way to lock in the fps.. Or anyone would change it whenever. Or am I missing something? I hate getting my inbox clogged with crap. Thanks! In response to your question, I don't think you can actually lock it down. I've never really been able to...unless there's something I'm missing.
