I would reccomend http://operationsbase.net.
i currently use their cpanel and it does all games and even has it's own
intergrated billing system.
not had any major problems with it.
Not sure if it is still free or not for new sign ups but it is very
handy and easy to use once you get the hang of it.
and yes it will solve your source startup issue

DLinkOZ, that's basically what I did, after much more googling ... found
a link from about 6 years ago stepping through that process. Thanks :)
Worked like a charm for both hlds and srcds.
Whisper - I can't believe you're still on this list :) I wish firedaemon
had a Linux equivalent - that's I used to run my servers in the past.
Now, are there any web based front ends to deal with CS servers?

Why not just put your screen command in rc.local, and use su -C to make
it
execute as some non-root user?

Does Firedaemon have a linux equivalent?
That is what you want, if it exists.

All I can seem to find from google is to run hlds / srcds via screen,
but that doesn't solve making it run on a reboot.
If someone has links to instructions that I missed, that would be
great.
OS is Fedora Core 4, if that matters. I don't have physical access to
the box, but I do have root access (thankfully) via ssh.
Also, is there a web management package I could use to start / stop /
restart hlds / srcds servers, so I don't have to give rcon to anyone
(I
know, only affects restarts)?
And finally, I have a pretty well fleshed out server.cfg (so in the
event anyone messes with the server, upon next map load everything
should go back to normal - in theory), but I read (somewhere???) that
the server.cfg only gets read once, at server startup - is this true,
or
did I read old information?
Thanks everyone.
