I don't use the -pingboost option as I found it didnt make any difference to the server performance this is on a reasonably high end dedicated gaming server running only srcds (CSS / TF2) processes however I am running a 1000hz kernel timer which does all our "boosting" the TF2 servers are running at 166fps and the css servers are at 333 fps (via rcon stats).

I've found a few threads documenting the -pingboost option to the linux server, but not many discussing its merits -- Have any of you admins enabled this on your server? Has it been worth it? -pingboost 1 looks theoretically like a good idea, but I don't want to piss off regulars with weird changes in lag if they're not beneficial! Any thoughts appreciated - Neph _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
