Ronny's right on this one. I have some all of my servers set up with a search key, and some with the group exclusive cvar. The ones without the group cvar work exactly like public servers. Anyone can join them. The others, however, only allow connections from the Steam group I have them set to. Using the search key on my client will sometimes put me in either one of my servers with the cvar or one without it.
