If you install it like this: ./steam -command update -game cssbeta -dir . -verify_all and the run it: ./src_run -game cstrike_beta -autoupdate .... *insert your params here *
it will download the CS:S Beta but when you run it, it will download an old 1.6 Beta (like in someones log earlier). But, if you install it into a folder: ./steam -command update -game cssbeta -dir beta -verify_all and the run it in the same way, it will start normally but with these warnings: WARNING: Failed to locate steam binary. WARNING: Could not locate steam binary:, ignoring. Don't know if this is the case for everyone, but installing it with -dir . kept me from running it on Ubuntu 9.10. Don't know if it's a bug or if I'm just doing it wrong :) On Wed, May 12, 2010 at 6:29 AM, k <k...@old.school.nz> wrote: > A quick google search shows people were running srcds on linux under Wine in > 2007 when they were hit with this problem running TF2 servers. > > Was a pretty old thread but may still be an option if you really have to use > Linux on a P3 > > On Wed, May 12, 2010 at 3:26 PM, 1nsane <1nsane...@gmail.com> wrote: > >> You might still be able to run the server if you switch to Windows :P. >> >> On Tue, May 11, 2010 at 10:17 PM, Guy Watkins >> <hlds_li...@watkins-home.com>wrote: >> >> > Correct, no sse2. >> > >> > flags: >> > fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 mmx >> > fxsr >> > sse >> > >> > } -----Original Message----- >> > } From: hlds_linux-boun...@list.valvesoftware.com [mailto:hlds_linux- >> > } boun...@list.valvesoftware.com] On Behalf Of k >> > } Sent: Tuesday, May 11, 2010 9:51 PM >> > } To: Half-Life dedicated Linux server mailing list >> > } Subject: Re: [hlds_linux] COUNTER-STRIKE: SOURCE BETA >> > } >> > } New engine, new CPU requirements :) >> > } >> > } I think SSE2 is what is missing from the P3 processors and causing this >> > } problem? >> > } >> > } On Wed, May 12, 2010 at 1:30 PM, Guy Watkins <hlds_li...@watkins- >> > } home.com>wrote: >> > } >> > } > Did they change the processor requirements? >> > } > I have been running a CSS server of a P3-1GHz for 5 or so years. >> > } > I hope they did not screw it up! >> > } > >> > } > >> > } _______________________________________________ >> > } To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, >> > } please visit: >> > } http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux >> > >> > >> > _______________________________________________ >> > To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, >> > please visit: >> > http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux >> > >> _______________________________________________ >> To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, >> please visit: >> http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux >> > _______________________________________________ > To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please > visit: > http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux > _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
