The two warnings are caused by the fact that you are using -autoupdate, which by the way doesn't work with cstrike_beta yet. -autoupdate triggers a search for the steam binary. In this case it can't find the binary.
-autoupdate doesn't work right now because the srcds_run script assumes that the steam package name is the same as the mod name, which is true in most cases. But in this case the mod name is cstrike_beta and the steam package is cssbeta. If you use -autoupdate it will download the goldsource cstrike beta package instead.
