Hi Sam -
If you had only one file that caused the program to crash, it could be that that particular pic got corrupted and so could not be successfully read or even indexed by PhotoShop. Sometimes if we have a doc open - any sort of doc or file - and the system shuts down abnormally, the file that is open at the time is only partially written, and so it can get damaged.
Can you still get the image off the camera or a backup?
Sounds like you did some good, and time-consuming, sleuthing. Congrats.
love and peace,
joyce

I took Joyce's advice and did some disk repair.. Photoshop file browser worked again with the exception of one file.. which caused the program to crash.. eliminating photos one by one we came to the one and only photo that was causing the crash.. any possible explanations for this mystery??Sam
