Well done to Joyce (and to you)
The file was probably corrupt in some way

I suppose if interested you could load it into
other progs to see what it did
or there may be some way to analyse it . . .

I see reading more email that Joyce has given you the same answer much 
better

Hi Sam -

If you had only one file that caused the program to crash, it could be 
that that particular pic got corrupted and so could not be successfully 
read or even indexed by PhotoShop. Sometimes if we have a doc open - any 
sort of doc or file - and the system shuts down abnormally, the file 
that is open at the time is only partially written, and so it can get 
damaged.

Can you still get the image off the camera or a backup?

Sounds like you did some good, and time-consuming, sleuthing. Congrats.
