LOL, yes. I keep my firewall set in "learn mode" which means that if a circumstance happens that it had not experienced before, you are prompted how to handle it (choices are deny, allow, or allow once, and there is a button for 'more info' that shows what is going on).  I like the flexibility that learn mode allows.

This has lots of useful information for people who see odd things happening in their firewall reports. For example, recently i had someone with an IP address in Paris try to ftp into my computer, but even stranger, last week i had someone with an IP address in North Korea (!!! hotbed of computer use) try to ftp in, after first pinging me.

The thing is, we have no way of knowing when an IP address is faked or not. The program i usually use for detection is this one:

www.dslreports.com/whois

It has a link you can click to use a java applet that lets you get around proxy servers and "theoretically" is more accurate in identifying an IP address source and location because of that.

All that said, i have learned that for me it is better to just forget all of this and not look at the firewall reports - it tends to feed paranoia rather than quell it.

Yes - may be a case of leaky hydraulics...

How does a person go about changing the internal clock speed? Way over my head.

love and peace,
joyce

PS - The away message Lizzie put up this morning before leaving for school:

"You can try the best you can.
If you try the best you can,
The best you can is good enough."
