Experienced hours of inability to connect via Trillian this evening, with recurrent illegal operation error messages shortly after keying in my password.
Scandisk did not resolve this, nor did downloading a new copy of Trillian from www.trillian.cc , nor did downloading the latest patch.
Eventually, i opened Trillian and instead of keying my password, clicked on the box to Add a new profile.
I gave the new profile a different name than the existing one, but set up the individual components for Yahoo IM, MSN IM, and aol IM the same as the original profile.
It was a pleasant surprise when Trillian finally launched, using the new profile.
An ever better surprise was that the Trillian server-side buddy information used in the original profile was automatically associated with the screen names in the new profile.
Nothing was lost. Way cool that it works that way.
Maybe this will be of help to anyone else who has these same error conditions.
