Hello Steve Toth,

It may SEEM good but it is not interactive
- only I have access to it

Wiki is better - because more access and interactivity is possible

I understand.

A web page is just a text file placed on a computer

the text has tags that tell it that the text is to be made bold

This text will be bold

or that pictures are to be displayed and where they are located

So the source code is known as HTML - and you have to learn how to
read and understand it

That takes time and experience
- tutorials are available - do you need a link to one?

Notepad is a text editor in windows
click on start
select run
type in "notepad"
(no speech marks)
and press return

familiar?

Nvu is a way of seeing the HTML (text) and the finished output
- it is free to download and use and highly recommended

Dreamweaver is the commercial professional equivalent

This is a URL - A Universal Resource Locatator
http://www.zen45800.zen.co.uk/peace_elements/

It is a place on a hard drive on a computer
- that place is a place that my ISP (Internet Service Provider)
gives me

In that place I have placed a file called index.html
when you go to

http://www.zen45800.zen.co.uk/peace_elements/

with your browser
the browser looks for a file called

index.htm
or index.html

(this index is known as the HOME Page)

Blogs have been around awhile - I always found them self indulgent

Wikis are more interesting
because people interact
my favourite is wikipedia
(however we can not use this effectively for Peace Elements)

A lot of what can be done is dependent on whether you have free dialup
broadband or whatever.
