Hi ts -

Thanks for all of your kind suggestions and cautions about eating (or not) wild mushrooms.

I agree that it's wise to get an expert opinion before eating anything growing wild.

My mushroom experiences have been happy ones so far - well some of them have been exceedingly colorful depending on how magic the mushroom.

I've restricted consumption in recent years to the ones from the grocery store... But there are a wide variety of shrooms in the area here that are edible and so the question is how do i find someone i can trust to have competent information about which are safe?

Curious - has anyone on the list tasted truffles? The real ones, i mean.

I've had (and love) chocolate truffles, but never the real deal.

love and peace,
joyce

this kind of sums it up. ;)

There is an old saying:
"There are old mushroom hunters ...
and bold mushroom hunters ...
but there are no old, bold mushroom hunters."

i have about 7 different types that i pick and eat ...
but i don't play around with anything that i do not
know for certain is safe.
and i learned most of these from someone who knew
what they were doing and could point them out ...
along with how to tell the difference between them
and dangerous lookalikes.

the more i have learned about what is out there ...
the more careful i am about what i pick.
and after learning more about coral mushrooms ...
i no longer eat some that i used to consume back
a few years because i cannot tell the difference
between the ones that are good ...
and the ones that will cause some awful stomach
cramps and 12 hours of diarrhea!
i speak from experience. ;)
