Hi ,

One of the things I could never understand is why
some of the images sent from Panhala appear blocky
- when I asked Jo Riley about this
he says they appear OK
on his screen and a friends

Not on mine

This software will explain it
http://cleaner.stratopoint.com/
it is a question of resolution

ALL images in gif or jpeg can be
compressed and should be
(I still use jpg because some software I use does not
include png format)

As you might know I am a great fan of Linuxes you can run from CD
Knoppix is the first that did this (and is still very good)
and Puppy though not widely known is fun.

know mystery asked recently why I could not get into Fedora
- ahem - my fault - I wanted to update - and got bored half way
through the update (so came out to continue later)
and so now I am locked out (it did not like that)

oops

Why did I want to get into Linux
- DOS
It would seem for those of us used to DOS
but not Shell (the Linux equivalent)
there may be scipts that use the alias command
that change "ls" to recognise "dir"
(not sure what I am on about - never mind)

How are our Linux users doing?
- I read that Linus Torvald is not keen on Solaris
any info on that?
