I am writing to tell you about new recordings of my husband Edward Marcus' compositions. They are performed by clarinetist Janet Greene and other fine musicians, including regular members of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra, and the Minnesota Opera Orchestra.
If you are not familiar with Ed's music, you can check it out at: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/605348340/the-lyrical-contemporary-clarinet-music-by-edward-0 There is a video featuring samples from the recording sessions. You can hear more music at Ed's website: http://sites.google.com/site/edwardmarcusmusic . Navona Recordings, a subsidiary of PARMA, is a major label that is offering us professional production of the disk and marketing worldwide via Naxos. Having the disk associated with a major label opens up opportunities for critical review and radio play not otherwise available, and we are very excited. Nearly all recordings of emerging composers' music produced today require an investment from the artist. We are using kickstarter.com for assistance. This is a fascinating site where artists post projects they hope to fund. The artist provides information and specifies a financial goal to be met within a specified time period. If that goal is met with pledges, the donors' credit cards are charged and the artist receives the funds. If the pledge goal is not met, no money changes hands. There are two ways to help, and each is equally important to our success: 1. Please let others who may be interested know about our fundraising efforts on Kickstarter. Pass along the information to those you think would be interested with email or even a link on your Facebook page or other online networking site. The more people hear about it, the better. The link is http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/605348340/the-lyrical-contemporary-clarinet-music-by-edward-0 2. Visit http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/605348340/the-lyrical-contemporary-clarinet-music-by-edward-0, and, if you feel so inclined, make a donation of any amount. Lots of people donate $5 or even $1 to Kickstarter projects, and every donation is deeply appreciated. That's why "the more people hear about it, the better." A large number of very modest donations can put us over the top There are many creative and productive people on Kickstarter looking for ordinary individuals to become patrons of the arts. It's a fascinating site. Enjoy it, and thanks!
