I attended the IHS workshop in Detmold, Germany in 1986. A young man by the
name of Matthias Berg was one of the soloists. He played Concerto Con Corde fur
Horn by Karl-Heinz Koper. Matthias was a thalidomide baby, born with both hands
just below the shoulder. He might have been missing some fingers. The piece was
very technical and his mastery of it left me with a lasting impression. This
has been a long time ago but I don't remember complaints about his intonation.
Of course, his sound was a little brighter than the other players. He used to
have a video on YouTube.
