Lawrence,

I concur! I've been a proud Alex driver for over 10 years now, I have two
103's. When my main driver needed a new lead pipe, I asked a lot of different
makers at an IHS "shindig" at what kind of leadpipe I should put on it. The
best advice I got was from Paul Navarro, who said put another Alex pipe on it.
I did and I'm happy.

William, have you tried a MooseWood mouthpiece? Tom Greer's moutpieces slot
VERY well! Tom recently sold me one of his new experiments he calls a Magnum
Opus. Wow! It slots very well, and it will help me to fill a hall. Last week I
was rehearsing the Dukas fanfare with the orchestra I play with and I was
really happy with the sound. When we finished, some of the string players came
up and complemented the horns on our sound. All of us are playing on MooseWood
mouthpieces, but with various horns. The principal plays a Karl Hill, the third
was absent and the fourth plays on a Kruspe.

Maybe you might want to try a MooseWood before investing hundreds of bucks on a
new leadpipe...

Good luck finding what you want to improve your sound,

Walt Lewis
