As a classical guitarist, I'm well acquainted with this one. You can buy an adjustable foot stool for $15 or so at almost any guitar store. Here's an example

Here's on that I keep in my teaching studio, along with the above-mentioned foot stool. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/99407-REG/Matthews_259533_Quarter_Mini_Apple_Box.html That one is 2" high - they come in a few heights: 1", 2", 4", 8", 12". It's bigger than a foldable foot stool but it'll still fit in many music bags and only weighs about 1 kg. The adjustable foot stool I have doesn't really adjust as low as 2" so that's why I keep this around as well. I usually use this 2" apple box under my right leg when I practice - if I don't, I end up pointing my toes on my right leg, which gets tiring after a while, or putting my left foot sideways under my right foot (really only works with sturdy shoes on). Hope that helps. -S- On Thu, Mar 10, 2011 at 10:21 AM, [email protected] <[email protected] > wrote: > Several years back an Alexander Technique instructor recommended I place an > object (phone book?) beneath my right leg in order to deal with playing > position problems when sitting (I have scoliosis and was in a back brace > during my formative years).
