At least one has understood my standpoint. But, William, even the horn parts of most Verdi operas are not that interesting, the operas are great, great historical dramas (Don Carlo, Aida, Otello), great sarcastic pictures of life (his masterpiece Falstaff), soap operas (La Traviata), crimes (Rigoletto), etc. One has to know the story, enjoy the most dramatic singing, listen to the great choirs - and enjoy this form of living arts. If so, everybody will not feel being bored by his or her horn part.
What should 2nd violin players or viola players say ????? Regarding their parts ??? ################################################# Am 20.05.2011 um 08:02 schrieb [email protected]: > > > > I will say that it is at least one way to make Verdi operas interesting.... > > -William > > > > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Hans Pizka <[email protected]> > To: The Horn List <[email protected]> > Sent: Fri, May 20, 2011 1:57 am > Subject: Re: [Hornlist] La Traviata > > > Hello Cabbage, > > two corrections: > > 1st: I am still alive > > 2nd: had I played THE LONG CALL in the 2nd act of La Traviata > just once, I would not have reached retirement in my orchestra. > > But I like that idea !!!
