The symphony no 3 is "Die Schottische" NOT the "Italian!!! This is a fairly
heavy blow, and one wants to be able to play nice and loud (in A ) at the
end. It is a bit of help to have an assistant here.

Actually, in Beethoven 8, to play the Trio of the 3rd movement with real
delicacy, I find it helps to have an assistant to play the loud bits in the
1st movement. It IS a luxury and certainly not essential.
