Bob, these high sophisticated model makers, I spoke of, have superb copying devices & can make super exact copies of tools, parts, pieces, mandrels, - just using laser measurement. Well, I did not say anything about costs ......
What kind of a product they have to copy is not relevant for them. Mouthpiece is nothing different to a special tool. Barrel metal being brought to a certain outside form & hollowed out at both ends, according to given measurement. Thatīs it. Nothing different. It is another thing to DEVELOP a new mouthpiece, but copying .... whatīs so difficult with , today .... old myths aside, forget them .... with todays laser measurement tools, transferring it to a CAD program & again transferring it to a CNC (there are mini CNC machines) ..... no problems except the costs. These products have nothing to do with music industry, just fine mechanic. My mouthpieces are also produced by a fine mechanic, not by a mouthpiece maker. Happy Holidays to you , Bob, and to Your family & to Your team. Didn't you just explain to the list the problems and costs involved with having rotors made? Mouthpieces have to be copied to very close tolerances and details that may seem obvious to you will be mysteries to most makers unfamiliar with the product. For instance, we make between 60 and one hundred discrete measurements just to duplicate a cup and rim. Try getting your model-maker to do that (really quick). Seriously, though, A very happy holiday to you and everyone on the horn list! They might have the technical apparatus plus the skill to copy most things. Or a dental technician could do it also. He should have an automatic or semi automatic lathe or CNC machine. It is just a matter of costs. ======================================================= -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, December 14, 2003 8:09 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [Hornlist] I need a mouthpiece copied fast Where can I go to get an exact copy of my old custom mouthpiece, really quick?
