Yes, cut the slide shank for some millimeters.


Prof. Pizka has it right.  Some elaboration though.  Pull the slide to
the point where it is getting stuck and mark the legs with a Sharpie or
similar marker.  Then cut just a bit past that (on the crook side of
the mark) with as fine a saw blade as possible and as close to square
as you can get it by hand.  X-acto makes nice blades for this,
available at your finer hobby stores.  Deburr the tubing (very
important) and slide the cut off pieces into the slide sleeves all the
way in.  This will keep the bore as consistent as possible.
