I have found that certain decongestants make my playing worse too. Some decongestants work by making the blood vessels smaller. That would not only reduce blood flow to the lip, but raise your blood pressure, too.
Some decongestants do not bother my playing. Benedryl and Zyrtec come to mind. Zyrtec is especially good, for me, because it does not cause "dry mouth."
