Hi Tim,

     Alexander mouthpieces have a 1 degree taper on their shanks
whereas most other mouthpiece makers have adopted the Morse 0 taper
which is just shy of 1.5 degrees, so your eyes do not deceive you when
you see a different taper.  The Morse 0 is a standard taper in the
machine tool industry and tooling is readily available to Horn makers
to produce that taper, hence its wide use.
