I'm looking at the arrangement for two oboes and piano (Fentone F163), the one I mentioned a couple of days ago. True, as Herb suggests, transposing up would create - as we found out on a concurrent thread - an explosive mixture. But surely as a stand-alone little crowd-pleaser, say, for a recital, transposing down will ensure you will survive your encounter with the Queen. And the audience will swoon at the long runs of duetted 16th notes. Very nice fanfare for horns. Up to horn f2, not f3, and in our favorite key.

Is that as written? That would be C alto, and the notes would be... Yikes!

playing the oboe parts?"

The oboe parts in Arrival of the Queen of Sheba from Handel's Solomon aren't very high. The 1st has a range of 2nd line g to Bb above the staff. The 2nd is from d above middle c to g above the staff.
