I've googled, checked wikipedia, looked in New Grove II online, Baker's centennial ed., and the International Who's Who of Classical Music, all to no avail.

Can anyone give me a *brief* outline of the life and career of violinist Max Salpeter? What I know now is that he was a member of the Aeolian Quartet, co-leader (concertmaster for those in the U.S.) with Manoug Parikian of the Philharmonia Orchestra, and performed in a BBC broadcast of the Brahms trio with Dennis Brain and of the WP of the Strauss Vier letzte Lieder.

I'm particularly interested to know whether he is still alive.

Thanks.
